Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Curry for Ninth Straight Win
The Leopards improve to 20-4 overall and 8-1 in conference play while Curry falls to 5-19 and 0-9 in league action. Wentworth picks up its ninth win in a row and third straight sweep.

BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's volleyball team cruised to a sweep of the Curry Colonels on Wednesday night. Kate McLane led the way with 11 kills and added two blocks while Sydnee Smith recorded 25 assists. Amanda Zweifler tallied six aces, and Emma Sanders added five kills and three aces.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Ava Rocchio tallied the first two kills of the night for Wentworth as the Leopards jumped out to an early lead. Smith's ace and a kill from Sanders, followed by attack errors from Curry stretched the advantage to 7-1. The Colonels cut the lead to five before back-to-back kills from Elena Davenport pushed the lead back to seven. Meghan Abbott's kill preceded an 8-0 run from the Leopards, with Kate McLane tallying four kills in that stretch. McLane ended the set with another kill to give Wentworth the 25-9 win.
- Curry battled back in the second set, keeping the game tied at 8-8. Kills from Smith and Riley Schoonmaker put the Leopards in front before the Colonels once again made it a one-point game. Ainsley Gregson's ace and three errors by the hosts stretched the lead to 16-11. Out of a Curry timeout, Wentworth went on a 9-1 run with three aces from Amanda Zweifler to grab the second set, 25-12.
- The Leopards opened the third set with a 6-0 run with two more aces from Zweifler. The Colonels scored five of the next six points to get within two before a 9-2 run highlighted by three aces from Sanders put Wentworth ahead 16-7. Davenport and Schoonmaker tallied the late kills to secure a 25-10 win in set three and complete the sweep for the Leopards.
THE SERIES:
- Tonight was the 16th all-time meeting between the two teams. Wentworth is 15-1 against Curry and has won the last nine matchups.
