Women's Volleyball Sweeps Past Suffolk
Leopards record their 10th 3-0 victory of the season with sweep of the Rams; Emma Sanders leads two players in double-digit kills

BOSTON, Mass. – Hitting nearly .300 as a team, the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 win over Suffolk in Conference of New England play Saturday morning.
With the win, the Leopards improve to 13-4 overall and are 3-1 in CNE play while the Rams fall to 7-13 (2-3).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Wentworth rolled off the first five points of the match which included a kill from Emma Sanders and a service ace from Mika Swanson. After Suffolk closed the gap to 7-4, a service error started a 10-1 run, capped off by an Olivia Vaugh ace, which made it 17-5 in favor of the Black & Gold. The Rams closed the gap to 20-9 by Wentworth rolled off five straight points to end the set, 25-9. The final two points came on Riley Schoonmaker kills.
- The Leopards opened the second set on a 9-1 run, which included three kills from Kate McLane and a pair of kills from Swanson. Wentworth maintained control throughout the set and led, 23-8, after Kate Koliopoulos' third straight ace before the hosts scored six straight points to make it 23-14. However, the Leopards scored two of the next three points and took a 2-0 lead with a 25-15 win.
- In the third set, Suffolk scored the first two points and led 4-3 before nine straight Wentworth points, capped off by a Swanson kill, put the Leopards in front, 12-4. The Black & Gold took a 20-9 lead before Suffolk scored two of the next three points. However, an attack error and back-to-back kills from Sanders gave Wentworth a 25-11 win and the Leopards' 10th sweep of the season.
- Sanders had 10 kills, hit .318 (10-3-22), and had nine digs. McLane had 10 kills and three digs while Swanson added seven kills, hit .462 (7-1-13), and recorded two blocks. Koliopoulos and Olivia Vaughn each served four aces, with Vaughn also dishing out 29 assists. Amanda Zweifler had 15 digs.
THE SERIES:
- Today was the 24th all-time meeting between the two teams. Wentworth won its 16th straight series meeting to lead, 18-6.
