BOSTON, Mass. – In their home-opening conference matchup Saturday afternoon, the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team fell to league-foe Western New England by an 19-1 score.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Golden Bears scored 16 goals across the opening two quarters of play, with five goals off the stick of sophomore Ella Henry (Wilbraham, Mass.) and hat tricks by senior Ally Ferraro (Hamden, Conn.) and junior Mia Celentano (Hamden, Conn.).
- Freshman Ally Cyr (Tolland, Conn.) gave WNE two more tallies in the third frame before freshman Kiki Dempsey (Stonington, Conn.) got the Leopards on the board on a free position shot at the 11:59 mark of the final quarter. WNE tallied once more to take an 19-1 game.
- Junior Lily Cohen (Cherry Hill, N.J.) made five saves in goal and recorded four ground balls while junior Kaitlyn Kozak (Saddle Brook, N.J.) recorded two caused turnovers.
SERIES NOTES:
- Today marked the 11th all-time meeting between the two teams.
