Golf Wraps up Play at NEIGA Championship
Leopards card a two-day total of 649 to finish tied for 24th out of 38 teams; Eric Anderson finishes tied for 22nd with a two-day score of 154
BREWSTER, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology golf team wrapped up the fall portion of its schedule by competing at the 79th Annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship. The two-day event, which features competition against Division I, II, and III institutions, was held at The Captains Course.
Wentworth ended Sunday's first round with a 329 to sit in a tie for 27th before rebounding on Monday to shoot a season-low 320, placing the Black & Gold in a tie for 24th among the 38 teams entered. Central Connecticut shot a two-day total of 597 to claim the team title, three shots ahead of the University of Rhode Island. Western New England was the top Division III team, carding a two-day total of 616.
After shooting an 83 on Sunday, senior Eric Anderson (Abington, Mass.) shaved 12 strokes off his score, carding a one-under 71 to finish with a 154, tying him for 22nd overall (out of 198). He was just one of two players (both from Division III) to break par on the day.
Junior Brandon Goold (Foxboro, Mass.) shot a two-day total of 158 (80-78) to finish tied for 46th. Classmate Dante Christofori (Springfield, Mass.) shot a 167 (82-85) to finish tied for 126th, while sophomore Brad Tyler (San Diego, Calif.) rounded out the Leopard scorers with a 172 (84-88), tying him for 149th. Junior Pat Sullivan (Needham, Mass.) also competed for Wentworth, shooting a 177 (91-86), which placed him in a tie for 164th.
