BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's volleyball team swept the Clark University Cougars by scores of 25-12, 25-18, and 25-15 on Thursday night at Tansey Gymnasium.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Wentworth jumped out to an 8-2 lead behind four kills from Emma Sanders. The Leopards dominated early on and stretched the lead to 15-6 after an attack error by the Cougars. - The second set saw the hosts take a 6-0 lead, with Sanders and Kate McLane picking up kills while Amanda Zweifler added an ace. After Wentworth pushed the lead to 12-5, Clark answered with a 4-1 run to make it a four-point game. Two attack errors restored the Leopards' eight-point advantage. Clark made a late run with kills from Isabella Smith and Isabella Alcott, but another kill from McLane and an attack error gave Wentworth the victory in set two.
- McLane and Sanders combined for three kills in the third set to give Wentworth another early lead. Riley Schoonmaker tallied three kills to cut off a run by Clark, stretching the lead back to four points. Sydnee Smith's ace and McLane's kill put the Leopards at the 20-point mark, putting the win within reach.
