Women’s Track & Field Sets Program Records to Open Outdoor Season
Emma Schaumloffel wins the 5000m with a time of 19:45.80 to set a program record; Kirsten Axelson sets the program record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:15.27.

WENHAM, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's track & field team opened the outdoor season at the Tymann Invite on Friday. The Leopards started the season with two program records and several top five finishes and the top two spots in the 5000m
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A pair of Leopards took home the top two spots in the 5000m. Emma Schaumloffel won the event with a time of 19:45.80, setting a program record. Summer Daniels finished second, coming in at a time of 19:53.33. Kirsten Alexson also set the program record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:15.27.
- Sasha Feron finished ninth in the shot put with a throw of 8.88m and ninth in the hammer throw with a distance of 26.21m. Alexis Heretakis placed eighth in the long jump with a jump of 4.72m. Lily Carlson placed fifth in the high jump at 1.42m.
- The 4x100m relay team of Princess Nimely, Heretakis, Alexson, and Olivia Holley placed fifth, coming in at 53.54. Alexson also finished fifth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:15.27.
- Two runners finished in the top five of the 100m hurdles with Laci Santos taking second with a time of 17.07. Alexson finished fifth, coming in at 17.77.
- Santos took home a seventh place finish in the discus with a throw of 29.20m. In the javelin, Santos finished eighth with a throw of 27.98m.
