WENHAM, Mass. – Brooke Finlay and Emily Hagen each scored goals as the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's soccer team played to a 2-2 tie against Gordon in a Conference of New England contest on Wednesday afternoon.
The Leopards are presently 6-3-6 overall and 1-3-2 in CNE play while the Fighting Scots stand at 4-8-2 (2-3-1).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Gordon controlled play early on, outshooting Wentworth by a 3-1 margin over the first 10 and a half minutes of play. One of the three Fighting Scots shots went on net with Shyla Kulesza coming up with a save.
- Just 70 seconds after an Erin Londregan shot went wide of the mark, the Leopards took a 1-0 lead. Rachel Hagerty sent a cross towards the box where Finlay connected with a shot to the upper left corner for her fifth goal of the season.
- The Fighting Scots applied pressure and had four shots on net over the remainder of the half with Kulesza coming up with four saves.
- At the 47:15 mark, the hosts tied the game up when Ava Forbes-Smith and Eowyn Lapp set up Tia Fyden after a turnover near midfield.
- Wentworth reclaimed the lead at the 51:33 mark on a give-and-go play as Lily Carlson threaded a pass to Emily Hagen for her second marker of the season.
- Nearly a minute later, Finlay almost put the Black & Gold on top 3-1, however, her shot attempt was saved.
- Gordon evened the score at 2-all when Lapp took a feed from Sophie Lyons at 53:42.
- The Fighting Scots continued to apply pressure with Kulesza making seven saves over the remainder of the contest.
- Kulesza finished the game with 13 saves.
ALL-TIME SERIES:
- Today was the 34th all-time meeting between the two schools.
