Women's Soccer Rolls Past Fitchburg State

BOSTON, Mass. – Four different student-athletes tallied goals while Rachel Hagerty had a pair of assists as the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's soccer team picked up its sixth shutout of the season, blanking Fitchburg State, 4-0, in non-conference action Wednesday night.

With the win the Leopards improve to 4-1-4 on the season while the Falcons fall to 1-7-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Wentworth nearly got on the board in the second minute of play as the Leopards' first shot attempt was a header by Lily Carlson which sailed just wide of the mark. Carlson was able to put Wentworth on the board at the 5:48 mark when she scored her sixth marker of the season. Jordan Dahan sent a ball along the left side where Carlson fired a shot to the low center of the net.
• Two minutes and twenty-seven seconds later the Black & Gold took a 2-0 lead on a goal from Kyra Forsberg. Lina Arldander had the ball down along the low right side and flipped a pass back to Brianna Reid who sent a cross to Forsberg in the box.
• Wentworth continued to apply pressure throughout the half and took a 3-0 lead with 1:58 left in the half. Olivia Coish carried the ball down low and sent a pass from just inside the end line through the box to Hagerty, who fed Brooke Finlay for a tap in.
• A diving stop by Shyla Kulesza in the 47th minute kept the Fitchburg State off the board as the Falcons applied early pressure.
• Olivia Gass rounded out the scoring with 5:02 left with a header inside the left post. Isabella Cunha served a corner kick towards the box where Hagerty flicked a header to Gass in front.
• Kulesza made six saves to record her third shutout of the season. Wentworth had a 24-8 shot advantage and a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.

ALL-TIME SERIES:

• Tonight was the fourth all-time meeting between the teams. Wentworth leads, 2-0-2
