Women's Soccer Ends Regular Season With Scoreless Draw at UNE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Wentworth Institute of Technology and the University of New England ended the regular season by playing to a scoreless draw in Commonwealth Coast Conference action Tuesday afternoon.

The Leopards, who remain undefeated (7-0-2) in CCC play clinched a share of the regular-season title for the first time in program history and enter the CCC Tournament as the number two seed at 12-3-3. The Nor'Easters sit at 9-5-2 (5-2-2) and will enter the tournament as the number four seed. Complete tournament pairings will be announced late Tuesday night.

Wentworth carried play for the first half, owning a 12-1 shot advantage with four of those shots going on target, but none would get past senior Brielle Robinson (Monson, Mass.).

Junior Emily Richard (Fremont, N.H.) had a pair of shot on target 26 seconds apart, however Robinson stopped them both, including making a diving save in the 52nd minute. Wentworth had numerous scoring chances, however could not convert. After a corner kick, senior Mary Annon (Concord, N.H.) had her bid denied by Robinson, and, with just over 10 minute remaining in regulation, she made another stop on a Richard attempt. Wentworth had an 11-3 shot advantage in the second half.

The first overtime saw the Black & Gold continue to apply pressure and put four shots on net, however could not get the game winner. The Nor'Easters had a chance to win the game early in the second overtime when junior Edie Pallozzi's (Windham, Maine) shot from inside the box was stopped by sophomore Micaela Robinson (Goshen, N.Y.). Wentworth had a pair of attempts late in the frame, but both went wide.

Micaela Robinson made five saves to pick up her seventh shutout of the season. Brielle Robinson made 17 stops. Wentworth outshot UNE 34-9 and had a 7-0 advantage on corner kicks.
