Hartford Tops Women’s Lacrosse
Grace Del Pilar scored the Leopards’ only goal, Lily Cohen made 13 saves

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team fell to the Hartford Hawks on Tuesday afternoon. Grace Del Pilar tallied the lone goal for the Leopards while Lily Cohen made 13 saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cohen made two saves in the opening five minutes of the game as Hartford had early momentum. Cohen also stopped a free position attempt to keep the game scoreless.
- The Hawks took the lead with 4:37 to go in the first quarter with a player-up goal from Sara Costa. Three minutes later, Hartford doubled the lead behind a goal from Lauren Samela.
- Del Pilar got Wentworth on the board 20 seconds later to make it a 2-1 game after 15 minutes. Cohen made seven saves in the first quarter.
- Katie Graham and Kate Zonin found the back of the net in the first two and a half minutes of the second quarter to put the Hawks in front 4-1. Laurel McIntosh and Samela tallied goals to make it 6-1 at the half. Cohen made three saves in the second for a total of 10 in the first half.
- Hartford came out strong in the second half with Costa and Zonin finding the back of the net to extend the lead to 8-1 early in the third quarter. Both players scored again in the third as the lead grew to nine.
- The Hawks scored three more goals in the final five minutes of the third quarter to take a commanding 13-1 lead into the fourth.
- Five Hawks got on the scoresheet in the final quarter as Hartford cruised to an 18-1 victory over the Leopards.
THE SERIES
- Today was the 3rd all-time meeting between the teams.
