Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Salem State
Grace Del Pilar scored five goals on seven shots to lead the Leopards’ offense; Lily Cohen made 6 saves

SALEM, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team fell to the Salem State Vikings 12-10 in a tight contest on Saturday afternoon. Grace Del Pilar led the team with five goals on seven shots. Sydney Vega and Maggie McCann each tallied two goals and one assist. Lily Cohen made six saves for the Leopards. Del Pilar led the team with six ground balls.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Del Pilar opened the scoring three minutes into the game with an unassisted goal. Jordan Turcotte scored three goals in just under three minutes to put the Vikings in front 3-1. Del Pilar answered with a free position goal before Laura Young made it 4-2 to Salem State after one.
- Anna Faberlle set up Del Pilar for her hat trick goal to open the second quarter. McCann's unassisted tally tied the game at 4-4 before Turcotte tallied her fourth of the contest to restore the Vikings' lead. Vega added two goals in the second quarter, but Salem State led 7-5 heading into the half thanks to goals from Siobhan Smith and Young.
- Turcotte and Del Pilar exchanged unassisted goals in the opening two minutes of the third with the game 8-7 in Salem State's favor. Young made it 9-7 before McCann and Sweet scored to tie things up heading into the fourth.
- Del Pilar scored from a free position shot to give Wentworth its first lead since the opening goal just 40 seconds into the frame. The Vikings rallied with a pair of goals from Smith and one from Turcotte to take the 12-10 win.
THE SERIES
- Today was the 3rd all-time meeting between the teams.
