Women's Lacrosse Falls to Hartford
Hawks use high-scoring first half to hold off Leopards, 19-5; Anna Faberlle scores a pair for Black & Gold

BOSTON, Mass. – Meghan Smith of the Hartford Hawks women's lacrosse team dropped a game-high six points as the Hawks rolled past Wentworth Institute of Technology by a 19-5 score in Conference of New England play Tuesday night.
With the win, Hartford boosts their marks to 9-5 overall and 5-2 in the CNE. The Leopards slip to 5-9 overall and 1-6 in conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Hawks rattled off a 9-0 run in the first frame, featuring two goals apiece for Smith and Kate Zonin. In the second, Hartford pushed their lead to 14-0 by the 4:59 mark before Anna Faberlle got the Leopards on the board at the 3:13 mark.
- The Black & Gold clawed into the deficit in the third quarter as tallies by Shayleah Gunning-Lavoie (12:22) and Tessa Wilkie (2:44) sandwiched a goal by the Hawks, marking a 16-3 score.
- After Hartford padded their lead by two early in the fourth, Faberlle and Sydney Vega potted one apiece to cut Wentworth's deficit to 18-5 before Kelly Hoxie sealed the Hawks' win with one final tally.
- Grace Del Pilar led the Black & Gold with four draw controls while Wilkie notched a team-high three ground balls.
SERIES NOTES:
- Tonight marked just the second all-time meeting between the two teams.
