Women’s Basketball Drops Road Contest at Curry
Taylor Garabedian recorded her eighth double double of the season with a team-high 22 points and 10 rebounds

MILTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's basketball team fell to the Curry College Colonels 67-55 on Saturday afternoon. Taylor Garabedian led the Leopards with 22 points and 10 rebounds for her eighth double double of the season. Grace Moltenbrey added 15 points and Elise Ayer dished out three assists to go with nine rebounds and five points. Tita Rana had a team-high four steals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Moltenbrey opened the scoring with a jumper just over a minute into the game. The teams went back and forth with Curry taking an 8-4 lead midway through the frame. Garabedian completed the and-one play to bring the Leopards within one and kept the deficit at one with a layup two minutes later. The sophomore hit a three to give Wentworth a 12-11 lead before a pair of free throws by Jess LaFlamme gave Curry the slight 13-12 edge after 10 minutes.
- LaFlamme hit a three early in the second quarter to give the Colonels a four-point lead. After almost two scoreless minutes, Ayer hit a layup to make it a 16-14 game with 7:05 to play in the half. The Colornels maintained a four point lead until Ella Palanza's layup pushed it to seven points in the final seconds of the quarter. Curry led 27-20 at the half.
- Zayas drained a three to open to the third, but Grace Fleuriel's layup pushed the Colonels' lead back to six. Moltenbrey and Ayer hit threes to make it a 33-29 game with just under five to play in the quarter. Lauren Dunn 's three and Kasey Reeves' jumper gave Curry a nine point lead late in the frame. Moltenbrey added five points in the final 30 seconds, but Curry led 44-34 heading into the fourth.
- Two early buckets extended Curry's lead to 14 points before Moltenbrey hit another triple to bring the deficit to eleven. A Garabedian three gave the Leopards a spark, but a quick response from Libby Harris restored the ten point lead. Garabedian added two more buckets, but the Colonels held their double digit advantage as the game hit the final two minutes. Zayas scored eight points and Moltenbrey added a pair of free throws late, but Curry held on to win 67-55.

- Tonight was the 67th all-time meeting between the teams.
