#12 Men’s Volleyball Sweeps Rivier
Luke McQuaid led the Leopards with 11 kills while Temmy Argynbay dished out 35 assists

BOSTON, Mass. – The #12 Wentworth Institute of Technology men's volleyball team improved to 9-2 overall and 2-0 in GNAC action with a sweep of the Rivier Raiders on Wednesday night. Luke McQuaid tallied 11 kills to lead the team while Eli Turner added 10 finishes and four aces. Temmy Argynbay dished out 35 assists to lead the team and Juan Zuniga recorded a team-high 10 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The sides exchanged points early in set one before a kill from Krister Leya and two attack errors gave the Leopards a 10-7 lead. Wentworth pushed the lead to 15-10 behind kills from Turner and errors by the Raiders. Turner and Benjamin Moughon combined with strong finishes as the Leopards hit the 20-point mark first. Rivier would not go quietly, and the teams exchanged points again with the hosts now in front 23-18. Rivier rattled off five straight points behind kills from Bassam Awde and Kenji Clark to tie the game. Moughon's kill put the Leopards back in front and Argynbay's ace secured the tough first set for Wentworth, 25-23.
- Errors by the Raiders and points from Moughon and Turner put Wentworth up 5-2 to open the second set. Rivier battled back and scored six of the next nine points to tie the game at 8-8. After going back and forth, McQuaid and Nicolai Bell pushed the Leopards into a 14-11 lead. The Leopards found a rhythm and scored seven of the next nine points, capped off by an ace and strong finish from McQuiad, extending the lead to 21-14. Rivier stayed in it, but McQuaid finished the second set with a big kill to give the Leopards the 25-19 win and a 2-0 edge in the match.
- The Raiders held the lead in set three with Cade Barron's finish making it 5-4 early on. Wentworth answered with a 5-2 run to take a 9-6 lead before the Raiders battled back again to even the score at 10-10. Kenji Clark tallied back-to-back aces, but the hosts jumped back in front behind an ace from Turner. After taking a 15-13 lead, the Leopards went on a 7-3 run to lead 22-16 with the sweep in their sights. The Raiders continued to fight and clawed their way back to make it 23-20 before back-to-back points from Turner won the set 25-20 and secured the sweep.

- Tonight was the 58th all-time meeting between the teams. Wentworth has won the last 10 matchups.
