#11 Men’s Volleyball Falls to #1 Springfield
Alem Dubcak led the way with 11 kills while Brayden Green dished out 19 assists

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The #11 Wentworth Institute of Technology men's volleyball team fell to the #1 Springfield College Pride in straight sets on Saturday night. Alem Dubcak led the Black & Gold with 11 kills while Brayden Green had a team-high 19 assists. Benjamin Moughon tallied seven digs to lead the team.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The sides went back and forth to open the first set with a kill by Sam Levinson giving Springfield a 7-5 edge. Nathan Goh made it 11-5 for the Pride before errors and an ace from Eli Tuner cut the lead to four points. The hosts maintained their edge and led 18-12 after a service error by the Leopards. Dubcak and Turner tallied kills, but Springfield held on to a six-point lead late in the frame. Goh tallied a kill and several errors by Wentworth gave the Pride the 25-16 win in set one.
- The second set opened with the teams exchanging points again with Dubcak tallying three kills for the Leopards. After the game was tied at 10-all, Wentworth took the lead behind a service error and a kill from Nicolai Bell. William Biggs had a strong finish and more errors by the Pride gave Wentworth a 16-15 lead. Springfield went on a 10-1 run to win set two 25-17.
- Back-to-back kills from Carter Durivage and an ace from Goh gave Springfield an early 6-2 lead in set three. Dubcak's kill and an ace from Foxwell made it 6-4, but a 10-4 run by the Pride pushed their lead to six at the midway mark of the frame. Biggs and Dubcak tallied kills to keep Wentworth within seven, but a service error pushed Springfield to the 20-point mark. Dubcak and Cody Popp had strong finishes, but the Pride's lead was too much to overcome and the hosts won the set 25-15 and the match 3-0.

- Tonight was the 14th all-time meeting between the teams.
