Burns Named GNAC Defensive Player of the Week
Mekhi Burns earns his first conference honor after recording 27 digs and zero reception errors in wins over Endicott and #12 New Paltz
WINTHROP, Mass. – After helping the Black & Gold to a 2-0 weekend, Mekhi Burns of the Wentworth Instiitute of Technology men's volleyball team has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Burns earns his first GNAC weekly award of the season.
Burns recorded 13 digs and zero reception errors in the Leopards' five-set win over Endicott in the opening game of Saturday's tri-match. The junior added a huge defensive presence in the top 15 matchup against #12 New Paltz later in the afternoon, tallying 14 digs and zero reception errors, helping Wentworth win the five-set thriller.
#13 Wentworth (6-1, 0-0 GNAC) visits #17 MIT (7-0, 0-0 UVC) on Thursday night.
