WESTON, Mass. – Senior Jake Reed (Arvada, Colo.) recorded 11 kills, served four aces, and had a pair of blocks to help the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's volleyball team earn a 3-0 win over Regis in non-conference action on Tuesday night.

Winners of two straight the sixth-ranked Leopards improve to 7-2 on the season while the Pride's three-match win streak comes to a halt as they fall to 3-5 on the season.

In the opening set Wentworth took a 14-10 lead on a junior Jon Roat (Macedon, N.Y.) kill and had a four-point lead seven more times, including after an attack error made it 22-18. Regis closed the gap to 23-21, and, after a service error gave the Leopards set point at 24-21, the Pride scored three straight to tie the set at 24-all. Wentworth had set point two more times including when a Reed kill made it 26-25, however Regis extended the set with a kill. A Red kill and a Pride attack error gave the visitors a 28-26 win in the opening frame.

Trailing 24-23, Reed put home a kill which gave the Leopards the serve. However, a Regis kill gave the Pride the 25-24 lead and a chance to even the match. An attack error tied the score for the 11th and final time as kills from Reed and senior Mike Rogachefsky (Rochester, N.Y.) gave the Black & Gold a 27-25 win.

Wentworth scored the first seven points of the third set and never looked back, cruising to a 25-17 win. A kill from Roat gave the Leopards their largest lead of the set at 18-7 before four straight Regis points made it 18-11. Wentworth scored five of the next six points to take a 23-12 lead.

In addition to Reed's 11 kills, Roat had 10 and hit .571 (10-2-14).
