Pierce Bests Program Shot Put Mark at NEICAAA Championships
Senior Jared Pierce threw a program-best 15.98M, besting his own mark he set a week ago
BOSTON, Mass. – A week after establishing a new program mark in the shot put, senior Jared Pierce (Biddeford, Maine) broke his own mark, competing at the NEICAAA Championship at The TRACK at New Balance on Friday morning.
Pierce, whose throw of 15.98M broke the mark of 15.37M, finished eighth at the event, which features qualifying student-athletes from all three NCAA divisions. Entering the meet, Pierce had the 28th best performance in the shot put. Pending results of remaining meets to be held this weekend, he now stands 11th on the Division III performance list, which is used in selections for the NCAA Championship.
Junior Eli Sleasman (Albany, N.Y.) competed in the pole vault for the Black & Gold, finishing tied for eighth with a mark of 4.35M. Senior Christian Army (Pembroke, N.H.) competed in the 60M hurdles where he placed 17th with a time of 8.88 seconds.
