Moser Sets Team Record in Shot Put as Track and Field Competes at NEICAAA Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - The Wentworth Institute of Technology track and field team competed in a two-day event this weekend, participating in the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association Championships Friday, Feb. 4 and Saturday, Feb. 5. Junior Kyle Moser (Southbury, Conn.) set the team record in the shot put during the two-day tournament, and the team finished 20^th overall, scoring three points for the event.

The Leopards got things started on Friday, as freshman Scott Stehlik (Northport, N.Y.) took 16^th place in the men's 500-meter with a time of 1:09.88. Sophomore Jack Chausse (Newport, R.I.) qualified for the finals in the men's 1000-meter, posting a 2:36.14 finish and taking ninth place.

Sophomore Eli Sleasman (Albany, N.Y.) competed in the pole vault, taking 10^th place with a 3.80 meter vault. Moser participated in the weight throw event Friday, finishing 15^th with a throw of 12.71 meters.

On Saturday, junior Christian Army (Pembroke, N.H.) ran the men's 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 8.83 seconds and finishing 16^th. Moser then made his record-setting throw in the shot put, picking up a distance of 14.83 meters. Junior Jared Pierce (Biddeford, Maine) competed in the same event, adding a throw of 12.91 meters and finishing 21^st.

The Leopards' next event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 12, when Wentworth is at the Gordon Kelly Invitational, hosted by MIT, in Cambridge, Mass. Start time for the meet is 12:00 p.m.
