WEYMOUTH, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team defeated the Western New England Golden Bears 4-3 in a thrilling match on Senior Day at the Weymouth Club. The Leopards get another big conference win to improve to 6-4 in league action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- James Weete and Jasper Pearman fell at No. 2 doubles before Andre Juscamaita and Eric Sechen won a tough battle at No. 1 doubles, 6-3. Rene Rodriguez and Grace Ferguson won at No. 3 doubles, 6-2, to give the Leopards a 1-0 lead.
- Chris Hu fell at No. 6 singles, 2-6 & 0-6, and the Golden Bears tied the match. Western New England took the lead with a win at No. 5 singles as Noah Tarring fell 3-6, 1-6.
- Weete tied the match after a win at No. 3 singles, 6-4 & 6-4, before Sechen's win at No. 4 singles (7-5, 6-1) put Wentworth back in front.
- Rodriguez fell in a tightly contested battle at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 2-6, 1-6, as the Golden Bears made it 3-3.
- Juscamaita won at No. 1 singles, 6-1 & 7-6, to give the Leopards the win on senior day and another big win in conference action.
