Rodriguez, Gove Earn All-CCC Accolades
Junior Juan Rodriguez named First Team All-CCC in singles play and teams with senior Nate Gove for first team doubles honors
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Eight different institutions from Commonwealth Coast Conference were represented on the 2012 All-CCC Men's Tennis Team, it was announced by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye. In addition to the all-conference team, four major individual award winners and the team sportsmanship award winner were also selected. Wentworth Institute of Technology had two players earn all-conference recognition as junior Juan Rodriguez was named First Team All-CCC in singles while Rodriguez and his doubles partner, senior Nate Gove (Scarborough, Maine) were named first team all-conference in doubles play.
Rodriguez, the 2011 CCC Men's Tennis Player of the Year, was named to the first team as a singles player for the third straight season. In eight spring matches he posted a 7-1 record, with the lone loss coming to Eastern Nazarene's Austin Steelman, who was named the league's co-player of the year. Through three seasons he has an impressive 37-5 mark in singles play, including going 26-2 in league play. Rodriguez has also earned three straight all-conference honors in doubles play and has a 24-11 mark in his career.
After earning honorable mention in doubles during his first three seasons, Gove posted a 5-4 record at number one doubles this season, including going 5-3 with Rodriguez as his partner. Additionally, Gove was 4-6 in singles play, with the majority of those matches coming at number three singles. Gove ends his career with a 29-23 doubles record and a 20-26 singles record. He ranks among Wentworth's all-time leaders in both doubles and singles.
The Leopards finished the 2012 season with a 4-7 record.
