Redondo's First Half Goal Lifts Men's Soccer Past Nichols
Zachary Redondo scores with nine seconds left int he first half to help lift the Leopards to a 1-0 win over Nichols

BOSTON, Mass. – Zachary Rendondo's goal with nine seconds left in the first half helped lift the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Nichols in Conference of New England play Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Leopards improve to 3-7-4 overall and 2-3-0 in CNE play while the Bison fall to 3-7-3 (1-4-1).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Just 61 seconds into the contest, Wentworth nearly struck first when Dylan Michaud's header attempt on net was saved. Play continued back and forth until the 28th minute when Alex Burnham had a shot attempt from right in front of the net that was saved, keeping the game scoreless.
- Off a corner kick in the 35th minute, Burnham served the ball to Adamo Tsakiris, however, his attempt was unable to find the back of the net.
- With time winding down in the opening frame, Wentworth had a throw-in from the deep left side. Brady Erickson took the throw-in and sent it towards the box where Redondo flicked a header inside the right post, giving the Leopards a 1-0 lead.
- In a span of 1:23 early in the second half, Wentworth had three corner kicks, two of which resulted in shots on net but the Leopards were unable to score.
- Nichols nearly tied the game in the 78th minute on a header in front that was saved by Adrian Sanchez.
- Sanchez made a pair of saves to record his second shutout of the season. Wentworth had a 16-6 shot advantage and a 6-4 edge on corner kicks.
ALL-TIME SERIES:
- Today was the 41st all-time meeting between the two teams. Wentworth has won the last two meetings and leads all-time, 25-15-1.
