Balanced Offensive Attack Paces Men's Lacrosse Past Emerson in Season Opener
Leopards win their season opener for the second straight campaign with a 14-8 win over the Lions; six student-athletes record a multiple-point game

BOSTON, Mass. – Tony Corrado scored four goals and added and an assist as part of a balanced offensive attack as the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team opened the 2026 season with a 14-8 win over Emerson College in non-conference action Wednesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Wentworth wasted little time getting on the board as Gabe Cobham fed Brendan Kroll just 32 seconds into the contest to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. Kroll added a helper on Colin Ocampo's man-up goal with 10:04 left. Ocampo helped round out the first quarter scoring when he assisted on Jake Caraluzzi's goal with 2:19 left in the opening frame, giving the hosts a 3-0 lead after the first 15 minutes of play.
- Caraluzzi added an assist on a Tyler Longo marker with 12:03 left in the second quarter, extending the lead to 4-0. Brady Fish scored twice – both from Toby Cunningham – in a span of 2:04 to get Emerson on the board and make it 4-2. Corrado picked up his first of the game with 2:26 left, however, the Lions' Aedan Kiniry scored with 33 seconds left to make it 5-3 at the half.
- Zachary Stern-Hayes brought Emerson to within a goal (5-4) with 14:08 left in the third quarter before Caraluzzi scored with 12:07 left. On the ensuing faceoff, Keegan Buffa won the draw and fed Kroll to make it 7-5 just seven seconds later. Emerson scored twice in a span of 66 seconds to pull within a goal at 7-6 as Henry Bradley and JD Frey each scored. With 7:45 left, Tyler Longo started a three-goal in 1:40 span with Corrado scoring two goals to make it 10-6. Gabe Cobham extended the lead to 11-6 after three quarters of action.
- Corrado picked up his fourth of the game when he scored 1ith 10:38 left. Longo and Cobham added fourth quarter goals for the Black & Gold. Corrado picked up the assist on Cobham's goal with 3:52 left, completing his five-point night.
- In addition to Corrado's five points, Caraluzzi and Kroll each had two goals and two assists, while Longo scored three times, and Cobham had a goal and an assist. Buffa and Chuck Urda each scooped up six ground balls, while Colin Blackburn caused three turnovers. A.J. Smith made nine saves in his first collegiate start.
- Wentworth had advantages in shots (59-28) and ground balls (38) while also winning 15-of-25 at the X. Buffa was 14-for-21 on faceoffs.
SERIES NOTES:
- Tonight was the 11th all-time meeting between the two teams. Winners of two straight in the series, Wentworth leads, 8-3.
