BEVERLY, Mass. – Using a 14-1 run over the middle two quarters, the Endicott College men's lacrosse team defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology, 20-5, in Conference of New England play Saturday afternoon.
With the win the Gulls improve to 10-3 overall and 5-0 in CNE play. The Leopards fall to 10-4 (3-2).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- A low-scoring first quarter saw Wentworth take a 1-0 lead on a man-up marker from Kobi Buffa with 4:08 left. Endicott tied the game 48 seconds later on a goal from Nick Graap and took the lead with 1:29 left on a Guerin Favreau tally.
- Just 59 seconds into the second quarter, Erik Vogt evened the score at 2-all, however, the Gulls responded with four straight tallies and led, 6-2, with 11:09 left. Vogt added his second of the quarter with 6:08 left before Endicott's Matt Wright tallied a pair of times, extending the lead to 8-3 at the half.
- The Gulls broke the game open with eight goals in a span of 11:18 in the third quarter, pushing the lead to 16-3. With 51 seconds left, Vogt scored making it 16-4 after three quarters.
- Voght added a goal in the fourth quarter to round out Wentworth's scoring and finished the game with four goals and an assist. Tyler Longo tallied three assists. Chuck Urda caused four turnovers and scooped up four ground balls.
- Tom Gardner played the first 50:25, making 19 saves while also scooping up seven ground balls.
SERIES NOTES:
- Today was the 31st all-time meeting between the two teams.
