BIDDEFORD, Maine – Six different student-athletes tallied goals, while Dominic Murphy had three assists as the seventh-ranked University of New England ice hockey team skated to a 6-0 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology in Conference of New England play Friday night.
With the win the Nor'Easters improve to 18-5-0 overall and remain atop the CNE standings with a 15-3-0 mark. The Leopards fall to 5-15-2 (4-12-1).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- UNE Notched a pair of goals in the first period, which came 57 seconds apart. Seth Murch scored for the Nor'Easters at 12:12, followed by a goal from Noah Szretter at 13:09.
- Just 12 seconds into the second period, the Nor'Easters upped their lead to 3-0 on a goal from Drew Olivieri. Despite giving up a second period goal, Wentworth had a 10-9 shot advantage in the frame.
- The Nor'Easters tacked on three goals in the third period with Nick Marino scoring a shorthanded goal at 12:37, Juraj Elias scoring on the power play at 14:48, and Brayden Cook rounding out the scoring at 18:17.
- Jack McGovern made 29 saves for the Black & Gold.
ALL-TIME SERIES:
- Tonight was the 25th all-time meeting between the two teams.
