Hockey Wraps up Weekend Series with Suffolk

EAST BOSTON, Mass. – Marko Giourof scored a pair of goals and added an assist as the Suffolk University ice hockey team defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology, 4-1, in Conference of New England action Saturday night.

With the win the Rams improve to 8-7-1 overall and 8-3-1 in CNE while the Leopards fall to 4-11-1 (3-9-0).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Suffolk wasted little time getting on the board, scoring just 27 seconds into the contest as Giourof scored from Nolan Leonard and Aidan O'Connell. Giourof set up the hosts second goal of the period as he and Jack Kircher set up Alex Ondos at the 11:26 mark. The Rams had a 19-3 shot advantage in the first period.
• The Rams netted the only goal of the second period when Joe O'Brien capitalized on a turnover at the 14:33 mark.
• Giourof made it a 4-0 game with his second of the night, assisted by O'Connell, at 10:37. Wentworth ended the shutout bid with 6:03 left in the game. While killing off a major penalty, Hunter Wilson and Nolan Pecora set up Ian Worthley who went in alone to make it 4-1.
• Topher Chirico made 35 saves over the first 53:21 before Will Seagrave made his collegiate debut, making five saves over the final 6:39.

ALL-TIME SERIES:

• Tonight was the 52nd all-time meeting between the two teams. Wentworth leads, 25-24-3.
