Hockey Opens Second Semester Play against Endicott
Leopards fall to 11th-ranked Gulls, 4-1; Xavier Vaillancourt notches his team-leading sixth goal of the season

EVERETT, Mass. – Four different student-athletes scored goals as the 11th-ranked Endicott College men's ice hockey team defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology, 4-1, in Conference of New England play Tuesday night.
With the win the Gulls improve to 9-1-1 overall and 5-1-1 in CNE play while the Leopards stand at 3-8-1 (2-6-0).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After a back and forth start to the opening frame that yielded no goals, the teams combined for three goals in a span of 5:16. Endicott got things started at the 8:48 mark when Noah Gibbs scored from Sebastian Speck and Louie Kamienski.
- Wentworth evened the score at 1-all at the 12:10 mark. Nicholas Ramm set up Ian Worthley, whose shot was saved by Peter Sterling. Xavier Vaillancourt collected the rebound and tied the game with his sixth marker of the season.
- Speck put the Gulls on top, 2-1, when he scored from Mark D'Agostino and Gibbs at the 14:04 mark.
- While both teams had chances to score in the second period, Endicott tallied the lone goal to go on top, 3-1, when Michael Casey won a faceoff to D'Agostino, who beat McGovern from the top of the circle.
- A fast-paced third period saw the first 9:58 played without a stoppage. During this time, both teams had scoring chances but Sterling and Jack McGovern came up with stops to keep it a 3-1 game.
- With 2:51 left in the contest, McGovern was pulled for an extra attacker. After a shot attempt went wide, the Gulls took advantage of a turnover just inside the blue line where Payton Miller iced the game with an empty-net goal.
- Sterling made 23 saves while McGovern made 25 stops. Endicott had a 29-24 shot advantage.
ALL-TIME SERIES:
- Tonight was the 30th all-time meeting between the two teams.
