Milnes Named CCC Scholar-Athlete
Senior Sam Milnes caps off his career being name d the CCC's Senior Scholar-Athlete
BOSTON, Mass. – Senior forward Sam Milnes (Middletown, R.I.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology ice hockey team has been named the 2023 Commonwealth Coast Conference Scholar-Athlete. The announcement came when the league released the all-conference teams and major award winners Wednesday afternoon.
A four-year letterwinner and the captain of this year's squad, Milnes played in 17 games, scoring three goals and adding three assists for six points. In the season-opening win over Castleton, he netted career highs in goals (three) and points (four) and was named the CCC Player of the Week on Oct. 31.
Milnes, a Computer Science major who is minoring in both Financial Math and Data Science, played in 58 games over the course of his three playing seasons. He scored 26 points on seven goals and 19 assists, which includes two power-play and two game-winning goals. He also blocked 70 shots throughout his career.
