Carbo Stops 56 in Hockey's Loss to Curry

CANTON, Mass. – Sophomore Alex Ochterbeck (Dallas, Texas) scored a pair of goals during a run of five unanswered goals as the Curry College ice hockey team rallied to defeat Wentworth Institute of Technology, 6-3, in Commonwealth Coast Conference action Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Wentworth wasted little time taking the early lead as freshman Guillaume Bose (San Jose, Calif.) scored at the 5:06 mark, set up by classmate Anthony Blad (Suffield, Conn.). Just 73 seconds later, the Leopards took a 2-0 lead when Sophomore Jake McKenelley (Middleton, Mass.) scored from seniors Adam Tracey (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) and Connor Busch (Lake in the Hills, Ill.). Curry had a 19-12 shot advantage in the opening frame with freshman Connor Carbo (Berlin, Vt.) turning aside all 19 shots he faced.
• The second period saw the two teams trade goals in an 11-second span to open the stanza. Curry pulled within one at 2:06 when junior Eetu Selanne (Coto de Caza, Calif.) scored before Wentworth pushed its lead back to two on a goal from junior Jake Hallisey (Quincy, Mass.), which was assisted by junior Brenden Lloyd (Merrick, N.Y.) and freshman Sam Milnes (Middletown, R.I.) at 2:17.
• Curry scored the next two goals of the third period to begin its five-goal run. Ochterbeck pulled the hosts within one at 13:19 while a power-play goal from senior Billy Vizzo (Shelton, Conn.) evened the score with 1:17 left in the period.
• Ochterbeck put the Colonels ahead, 4-3, at 9:29 of the third period before goals from juniors Michael Snow (Medford, Mass.) and (Scarborough, Maine) at 14:59 and 17:09, respectively, provided a cushion.
• Curry had a 62-37 shot advantage. Freshman Connor Carbo (Berlin, Vt.) made 56 saves, the fifth-highest in a single game in program history. Junior Justin Ketola (Cloquet, Minn.) made 34 saves.

SERIES NOTES:

• Tonight marked the 45th all-time meeting between the two schools with Curry holding a 23-17-5 series advantage. The Colonels have won the last six meetings and are 8-0-1 in the last nine meetings.
