Golf Opens Season With Win at Newbury Invitational
Sophomore Paul Arsenault finishes second with a two-over 73 to help the Leopards score 321 and capture the five-team event
BROOKLINE, Mass. – Sophomore Paul Arsenault (Middleton, Mass.) finished second with a two-over 73 to help the Wentworth Institute of Technology golf team capture the Newbury Invitational in its season-opening event.
Playing at the par 71, 6,302-yard Robert T. Lynch Golf Course, the Leopards' team score was 321, which was 12 strokes better than the host Nighthawks (333) while Mitchell (341) finished third, Emmanuel (362) was fourth, and Eastern Nazarene (440) was fifth.
Arsenault was one of two Wentworth golfers to finish in the top five among the 26-golfer field as senior John Doran was fifth with an 80. Freshman Zach Downing (Clinton, Mass.) finished tied for sixth with a 76. Senior Alec Focault (Putnam, Conn.) rounded out Wentworth counting scores as he finished 10th with an 85. Freshman Brian Bak (South Hadley, Mass.) also competed for the Black & Gold as he finished 11th with an 88.
Wentworth will next compete at the Nighthawk Invitational on Wednesday, September 23, at Franklin Park Golf Course.
