Golf Wraps Up 2011-12 Campaign

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. – Playing in its final event of the 2011-12 season the Wentworth golf team competed at the Hampton Inn Spring Invitational, hosted by the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth at Allendale Country Club. The Leopards, who were tied for 13th after shooting a 347 on Friday, shot a 344 on Saturday and finished in 13th place out of 18 teams with a 691.

The 691 was 62 strokes behind tournament champion Husson, which placed all four of its scorers in the top 12, and was three strokes ahead of 14th place Castleton.

Junior Eric Anderson (Abington, Mass.) was Wentworth's medalist for the weekend, shooting a two-day total of 165 (81-84), which placed him tied for 23rd among the 88 players who competed. Classmate Nick Abaray (Acushnet, Mass.) shot a 173 (84-89) to finish in 53rd place, followed closely by freshman Robbie Wells Rogers (Colchester, Vt.) who finished tied for 54th with a 174 (89-85). Junior John Romanelli (Acushnet, Mass.) rounded out Wentworth's top four scorers with a 179 (93-86), which tied him for 69th.
