Leopards golfers shave 13 strokes off of their day one total and 118 strokes off of their 2010 total, finishing 23rd at the 2011 NEIGA Championships; Eric Anderson finishes tied for 14th with a two-day total of 152, six strokes off the leader
BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth golf team had one of its better showings in recent memory at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championships, including shaving 118 strokes off last year's total, as the Leopards finished 23rd in the 34-team field with a two-day total of 651. Among the 22 Division III schools participating, the Black & Gold finished 11th.
Junior Eric Anderson (Abington, Mass.) began the day in a tie for 41st place with a 78, but completed the event with a two-over 74 on Tuesday to tie him for 14th overall with a 152, which was six strokes behind the medalist. Classmate Bryan Cohen (Caracas, Venezuela) finished tied for 94th with a two-day total of 162, carding an 81 on each day.
Freshman Brandon Goold (Foxboro, Mass.) shot an 80 in Tuesday's second round to climb 11 places and finish with a 165, while junior John Romanelli (Acushnet, Mass.) rounded out Wentworth's scorers with a 172 (88-84). Junior Anthony Bisceglia (Holden, Mass.) also competed for the Black & Gold, finishing with a two-day total of 192.
The Leopards are back in action on Friday at the Rhode Island College Invitational.
