Golf Concludes Fall Season at TCCC Championship
Leopards finish seventh with a 371; sophomore Nick Abaray ties for 18th with an 83
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology golf team concluded the fall portion of the 2010-2011 season by competing in The Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship, which was held at the Par 72, 6,483-yard Green Hill Golf Course in Worcester. The Leopards, who won this event in 2003, 2004, and 2005, finished seventh after carding a team score of 371. The 371 was seven strokes behind sixth-place Roger Williams and 58 strokes behind conference champion Nichols, which placed all four of its scoring players among the top eight individuals. Western New England freshman Patrick Donahue (Southington, Conn.) claimed the individual title with a four-over, 76.
Wentworth was led by sophomore Nick Abaray (Acushnet, Mass.), who shot an 83, including a 39 on the back nine. Abaray finished tied for 18th in the 34-player field. Classmate Kyle Nadeau (Chicopee, Mass.) fired a 39 on the front nine and finished 28th with an 89. Sophomore John Romanelli (Acushnet, Mass.) finished tied for 29th with a 95, while junior Mike Rizzo (Dorchester, Mass.) shot a 104.
