Golf Team Competes at NEIGA Championship
Sophomore Eric Anderson cards a two-day total of 168 to earn top scoring honors for the Leopards
BREWSTER, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology golf team competed at the 76th Annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championships on Monday and Tuesday at the Captains Course. The tournament was played at both the Port and Starboard Courses, which both had a par of 72.
After shooting a 390 on Monday, the Leopards shaved 11 strokes off their team score on Tuesday, finishing with a 379 for a two-day total of 769. The University of Rhode Island took both the overall and Division I titles with a combined score of 585, with Saint Anselm (617) tying for seventh overall and claiming the Division II crown. Husson fired a two-day total of 613 to finish sixth overall and tops among the 21 Division III institutions competing.
Sophomore Eric Anderson (Abington, Mass.) shot a two-day total of 168 (81-87) to lead the Leopards. His score placed him in a tie for 125th in the 182-player field. Sophomore Chris Lynch (Milton, Mass.) carded a 187 (93-94), junior Brian Henesey (Hingham, Mass.) carded a 197 (102-95), while classmate Anthony Bisceglia (Holden, Mass.) rounded out Wentworth's scoring with a 217 (114-103). Junior Mike Rizzo (Dorchester, Mass.) also competed for the Leopards.
Wentworth closes out the fall portion of its schedule on Tuesday, competing in the 2010 The Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship at Green Hill Country Club in Worcester, Mass.
