Men’s Basketball Falls to Wheaton in Season Opener
Colin Mannke scores a team-high 18 on 5-10 shooting while Mike Yentin added nine points and four boards.

BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's basketball team fell in Friday's season opener at Wheaton. The Leopards shot 40% from the field and 33% from three. Colin Mannke had a team-high 18 points and shot 5-10 from the field while Yentin finished with nine points, four rebounds and two assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Wheaton jumped out to an early 8-3 lead before Hunter Larson's triple and Russel Dolabany's layup tied the game. The Lyons responded with an 11-0 run with Dimetri Iafrate scoring seven points. Chase Mello and Aiden Flaherty scored 10 quick points to get the Leopards within eight. Mike Yentin knocked down a three just before the halfway point of the first half, but Wheaton led by eleven.
- Rex Zadrozny broke a three and a half minute scoreless drought for both sides, extending the hosts' lead. Colin Mannke scored Wentworth's next seven points to bring the deficit to nine with just over three minutes to play in the half. Eoin Morrissey's five consecutive points pushed the Lyons' lead to 14 before a pair of free throws from Yentin cut it to 45-33 at the half.
- Mannke led the team with 11 first half points while Yentin had three boards and four points. Sean Racette scored five points and grabbed two boards to go with one assist in the opening 20 minutes.
- Dolabany and Flaherty scored on early offensive possessions for the Leopards to keep the game within 10, but 6-0 run gave the hosts breathing room. The Lyons took control and held a 77-54 lead with just under seven minutes to play. Wheaton held on to the lead down the stretch and took the season opener 92-66.
THE SERIES:
- Tonight was the 6th all-time meeting between the two teams. Wentworth is 4-2 against Wheaton.
