Overview
The Wentworth Institute of Technology baseball team will
kick off the 2012 season with an eight-day spring break trip to
Central Florida. The Leopards, under the direction of
eighth-year head coach Steve
Studley, are coming off another solid season in which
Wentworth finished 24-16, advanced to the semifinals of the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament, and earned
its fourth straight ECAC Tournament berth.
This season Wentworth will once again be participating in
the RussMatt
Central Florida Invitational where the Leopards will play 12
games against eight different opponents. Wentworth opens
the season with a single game against Wartburg (Iowa) on
Friday, March 2 - the day the team arrives in the Sunshine State -
before playing back-to-back doubleheaders against Grove City and
WPI on Saturday, March 3, and Sunday, March 4, respectively. A
single game against The College of New Jersey on Monday, March 5,
wraps up the first half of the trip with an off day falling on
Tuesday, March 6.
The Black & gold return to the diamond on Wednesday, March 7,
against Colby-Sawyer before playing back-to-back twinbills against
SUNYIT and RIT on Thursday, March 8, and Friday, March 9,
respectively. Wentworth wraps up the trip with a single game on
Saturday, March 10, and flies back to Boston that evening.
Last season Wentworth went 5-4 on its trip and the Leopards
are 22-13 over the last four seasons on this trip.

up-to-date information of the Leopards’ trip. Associate
Director of Athletics Bill Gorman will
be accompanying the team on the trip and will be providing fans
with game stories, box scores, photos, as well as daily
updates. Additionally, if there is internet access at any of
the fields, "live statistics" will be available as well as the
possibility of on-line broadcasts (audio, video, or both). Be
sure to check the Wentworth Athletics home
page to see if either the live stats function and/or audio
broadcasts will be available. If neither are available, the
Wentworth Athletics home page will contain updated scores and
highlights each evening. **PLEASE NOTE THAT
CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND THE CONTROL OF THE ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT MAY
RESULT IN NO LIVE COVERAGE FOR ANY GIVEN GAME AS WELL AS THE
POSSIBILITY THAT GAME RECAPS AND FINAL STATISTICS MAY BE DELAYED IN
BEING POSTED**
Please check back often for schedule and itinerary updates and
after Wentworth begins practicing on January 29 for
updated team information. With 18 players returning there is
much optimism for yet another successful season for the
Leopards.
