Women's Soccer Earns NSCAA Regional Ranking

BOSTON, Mass. – On the heels of a second straight 4-0 start, the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's soccer team has earned a regional ranking from the National Soccer Coaches' Association of America. The Leopards are ranked ninth in the first regional ranking of the season.

Through four games the Leopards have outscored their opponents by a 15-1 margin with wins over Albertus Magnus (3-0), UMass Dartmouth (3-0), Emmanuel (5-1), and Curry (4-0). Wentworth started the season with a shutout streak of 227:16 and finds itself ranked in the top 30 in the latest NCAA Division III statistical rankings in won-loss percentage (tied for first; 1.000), shots on goal per game (16th; 14.25), shutout percentage (23rd; 0.75), scoring offense (29th; 3.75), and assists per game (30th; 2.75).

Three of Wentworth's next four contests are against teams in the regional rankings, including two holding national rankings in the latest poll. On Thursday the Leopards are at Brandeis, which is ranked third in the region and 13th nationally, Sunday the Black & Gold is at Amherst, which is ranked second in the region and 10th nationally, and on Sept. 21 Wentworth hosts WPI, which is ranked 10th in the region. On Oct. 22, the Leopards will host Commonwealth Coast Conference foe Endicott, which is ranked eighth in this week's regional poll.
