Women's Volleyball Splits in Tri-Match
NASHUA, N.H. – Senior Julie Rahilly (Pembroke, Mass.) had 35 kills and 19 digs, while junior Michelle Hobbs (Northwood, N.H.) added 15 kills and 20 digs as the Wentworth women's volleyball team split a pair of matches at Daniel Webster, falling to Mount Ida, 3-1, before rallying to defeat the host Eagles by a 3-2 score.
Mount Ida 3, Wentworth 1
After Mount Ida had dropped a 3-0 decision to Daniel Webster the Mustangs (1-4) bounced back to defeat the Leopards with a 25-16, 25-21, 16-25, 25-23 victory with Jennifer Ferreira (Shirley, Mass.) leading Mount Ida with 12 kills, 13 digs and four aces. Toni Vegiard (S. Attleboro, Mass.) pulled in 25 digs, while Trudy Goetchius (North Andover, Mass.) and Shay Collins (Londonderry, N.H.) had five kills each.
Rahilly led Wentworth with nine kills, while Michelle Hobbs knocked down seven kills and 13 digs. Jessica Houghton (Billerica, Mass.) added a match-high 27 digs, setting a single-match mark for digs in a four-set match, and Sam Curran (Quincy, Mass.) racked up 21 assists.

In the nightcap, the Leopards rallied from 2-1 down to post a 25-19, 12-25, 23-25, 25-21, 15-13 victory. Rahilly had the hot hand knocking down a match-best – and single-match record for a five-set match – 26 kills and hit .340 with 10 digs, while Hobbs had eight kills. Houghton pulled in 22 digs and Curran dished out 37 assists.
Chelsey Crawford (Westfield, Mass.) led the Eagles with 12 kills while Jennifer Finneran (Barnstead, N.H.) added 11 and four solo blocks. Brier Temple (Concord, N.H.) added eight kills, Maggie Belli (Miami, Fla.) added a team best 15 digs, and Samantha Hill (Hudson, N.H.) pulled in 14 digs.
At 3-2, the Leopards will entertain Emmanuel in their home opener on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
