PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Wentworth golf team opened the spring portion of the 2010-2011 season by playing in the Rhode Island College Spring Invitational. The event, played at the Par 72, 6,522-yard Triggs Memorial Golf Course was shortened from a Friday-Saturday event to one round on Saturday as a result of Friday's inclement weather.
Wentworth carded a 372, placing the Leopards 12th in the 12-team field. Senior Drew Powers (Chelmsford, Mass.) shot a 91 to lead the Black and Gold and finish 35th overall. Sophomores Kyle Nadeau (Chicopee, Mass.) and Nick Abaray (Acushnet, Mass.) tied for 36th overall with a 92, while sophomore John Romanelli (Acushnet, Mass.) rounded out Wentworth's top four scores with a 97, placing him 57th.
The Leopards are at the Hampton Inn Spring Classic at UMass Dartmouth next weekend.
