Wentworth Athletics at a Glance
Leopard Philosophy
The philosophy of the Wentworth Institute of Technology Athletic Department is founded upon a strong belief that athletics is a very useful facet of the total educational experience provided by our institution. The department believes student-athletes will develop skills for success in life through a quality athletic program, one which provides an opportunity for the student-athlete to develop as a whole person. Student-athletes will take the intercollegiate experience gained and successfully transfer it to their chosen career when they complete their undergraduate education and leave Wentworth.
Given this, Wentworth places equal emphasis on its men's and
women's sports with the quality of competition being very similar
for both genders. The Institute supports student-athletes in their
efforts to attain high levels of competitive performance and
excellence by providing them with top level coaching; high quality
facilities; appropriate and safe uniforms and protective equipment;
and the right level of competitive opportunities against
student-athletes attending similar institutions. While Wentworth
places a primary emphasis on in-season or traditional competition,
it encourages teams to compete in nontraditional seasons and
exceptional teams and individuals to compete in post-season
championships.
